Community Resources
Employee assistance programs are increasing as more and more companies, within both the private and public sectors, recognize the value of their human resources. EAPs are most successful in organizations that show concern for their employees and have a sincere sense of “family” among members of their staff.

Troubled employees cost employers an estimated $200 billion annually in lost productivity, absenteeism, accidents, and higher medical costs. The annual average cost of our EAP: Directions to the employer is $25 per employee. EAP employee utilization rates average from 7 to 12%.

Summary with Supportative Research
Providing an EAP service and identifying it as a separate line of business is cost effective and consistent with a strategic "Best Practice" direction. In the Brief Therapy Research/Data by Bill O'Hanlon, M.S., Summer 1987 report: we can see where the results of early intervention coupled with brief solution-focused counseling make significant decreases in work life problems while increasing productivity in the work place.
  • Broad Brush EAP services will conservatively divert the 40% of our population that have been statistically shown to need 6-8 sessions of behavioral mental health care.
  • Of this 40%, 75% will complete counseling without ever utilizing the behavioral mental health component.
  • Clients average duration of therapy is 5-8 sessions in both private practice and community mental health centers, regardless of the theoretical orientation or techniques used by the clinician.
  • Clients generally expect to stay in therapy about 6-10 sessions and not longer than 3 months.
  • EAPs produced a 60% reduction in turnover for their clients who were treated for psychiatric conditions.
  • EAPs created a long-term reduction of up to 34% in medical benefits claims for physical problems.

When on the job, employees had a 65% decrease in accidents, 60% decrease in absenteeism and lost time, and a 75% decrease in lost time over discussions of personal problems.
